After some discussion we felt the previous ideas weren't suitable and needed too much explanation to work in our campaign as a piece of direct mail for example needs to communicate instantly or it will not be opened or quickly thrown away.
We then started thinking of things you immediately associate with paper such as 'putting pen to paper' and 'rock, paper, scissors' as this king of thing would be easily recognisable to anyone receiving the mailshot.
I produced a few drawings, trying to create a little set of icons based on the rock, paper, scissors theme which we both like, but we are unsure whether this angle would end up just being a thin branding exercise with not much else behind it.
