So above are the final main menu designs for our concept restaurant. It's double sided with starters, mains and sides on the front and desserts, coffees, drinks and spirits on the reverse. One side is white and the other black in order to help reinforce our concept whilst it helps distinguish a couple of main areas of the menu.
I'm really pleased with how little details such as the curved and angled corners have developed out of the little logo/icon we are using as it's subtle but appropriate. Also using the icon itself as a dash under each heading on the menu really works well. We are planning to use a nice matte laminate finish on the menu and then pick out the dashes along with the centre line and the logotype on the front in a spot varnish which should give the menu a really professional appearance.
Finally we have also introduced a small tagline. I thought that for example many restaurants would have black and white menus without necessarily being based on the concept of black and white. Therefore using the tagline 'fine dining in black and white' manages to concisely communicate what our concept is. When used on stationery items such as the letterhead and business card, it will also hep inform the recipient of what the business is as the name 'Marble' on its own wouldn't.
I'm now going to get on with designing the Wine List and corporate stationery in the same style as the main menu whilst Naomi is working on the labels and packaging for our house branded products.
